I really enjoyed The Waves Burn Bright, though I can't for the life of me work out how I came to pick it up in print form. Hillhead library in Glasgow, perhaps, or the Shelter shop on Great Western Road that is a good source for me of books well worth reading (with thanks to those who share them there). That must have been about 3 years ago, as Aberdeen had just become a city I was beginning to know, through student offspring. Whereas, as a scot of a certain age the Piper Alpha tragedy is one that is seared into me from media at the time. The novel brought to me for the first time, however, how the dreadful consequences had affected people from then and no doubt until now. I do hope it can be republished in book form. And I will enjoy the film when it comes!

Thanks Janet, it's good to her the book still has a life despite going out of print. All praise to libraries and second hand bookshops! It's one thing I miss, living in Japan, the charity shops and second hand book shops - they kept me going through my student days. I hope your kids have been enjoying Aberdeen, it's a great town for students.
